ABOUT RADIO MEDICAL

Radio Medical operates primarily with the merchant fleet and the fishing fleet. Foreign flag states’ vessels can also contact Dansk Radio Medical, cf. ILO’s Maritime Labor Convention (MLC2006).

The ships contact the service either by telephone or mail. In emergency situations by telephone, and in less urgent conditions electronically by mail.

In cooperation with the Danish military, evacuations of acutely ill patients are initiated primarily by helicopter. In some situations, the ship can land the patient by searching the nearest port and thereby deviating from the original route.
